Biography:
Whiplash is a villainous character featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, Iron Man 2. This iteration of Whiplash is portrayed by actor Mickey Rourke.
Anton Vanko, the man who becomes Whiplash, has a deep-seated grudge against the Stark family. His father, a former partner of Howard Stark, was betrayed and left to die in poverty. Anton seeks revenge on Tony Stark for the perceived wrongs committed by his father.
Vanko demonstrates exceptional intellect, developing his own arc reactor technology and integrating it into a weaponized suit. His initial design consists of electrified whips, which he uses to attack Iron Man. He creates the first version in his father's work shop, and the second, more powerful one at the behest of Justin Hammer. In the film's climax, Vanko confronts Iron Man and War Machine in a heavily armored suit, representing the second version of Whiplash.
